Triton Woodworker of the year competition
Well we managed a very respectable 2nd place in the ‘Triton Woodworker of the year’ competition last month. The national competition was run in conjunction with GMC Publication’s ‘Furniture and Cabinetmaking’; a magazine aimed at professional woodworkers.
The entries were judged by a panel of woodworking experts who produce the magazine along with representatives of Triton Tools who were the sponsor of the competition. The entries were judged on overall design, construction and level of finish.
Entry into the competition began in April last year and our table eventually made it onto the shortlist in December; the only representation from Scotland. This was followed up with a visit by one of the judges to see the table in January where it was intensely scrutinized and photographed. The category entered was ‘Students and first year graduates’ as the table was made whilst Stuart was studying his craft at the Chippendale school of Furniture in East Lothian back in 2009. There were a further three candidates in the shortlist each displaying a high degree of skill and craftsmanship, so it was a nail biting wait before we received a phone call informing us that we had secured 2nd place and a £250 voucher for Triton tools.
Now all we have to do is decide what to exchange the voucher for!
